Chasing Japan’s Earliest-Blooming Sakura in Atami
A spontaneous Monday escape led me to Atami, where Japan’s earliest cherry blossoms bloom along a quiet river, the sea stretches endlessly below, and every stop seemed to involve something sweet. From sakura-lined walks and ocean-view parfaits to sacred trees and nostalgic puddings, this was a slow winter day that reminded me why I love traveling in Japan so much.

Matcha Tiramisu at the “Big Mountain” Diary entry #9
Come wander with me to the Ōyama Afuri Shrine on the side of Mt. Ōyama — not just for the beautiful views, but also for matcha tiramisu enjoyed with the clouds hanging gently above us. Let’s slow down for a moment, take a deep breath, and feel the crisp mountain air that makes everything else fade away.

A Cozy Autumn Trip to Fukushima
A spontaneous weekend escape took my friend and I to the peaceful countryside of Fukushima, where we soaked in mountain onsens, wandered through quiet lakesides, discovered hidden waterfalls and explored samurai history in Aizu-Wakamatsu.
From cozy cafés to scenic train rides and autumn views, this short trip reminded us how magical Japan can be when you slow down and simply enjoy the journey.
