Takaragawa onsen is one of the most beautiful hot springs I have ever visited. It's long history starts with a legend of a prince who lived at the beginning of the 1st century. During one of his war voyages he got extremely ill and it looked like he was not going to make it. However, he discovered this hot spring and the hot bath helped him recover. That might be the reason behind the name of this place - "The treasure river".

You can find Takaragawa onsen in the depths of the Gunma Prefecture forests and it is the ideal place to go to when you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.  You can make it a day trip to the onsen, or you can stay over in the Takaragawa Onsen Onsenkaku ryokan, which I highly recommned.

Oh one more things that maked this place special - both men and women can bath here |together. But don't worry, you are not completely naked (if that is something you would worry about..:D ).
