Snow in Tokyo・雪の日、東京

Snow in Tokyo is quite rare. If we are lucky, we get one or two snow days a year, and it never really builds up. It is, however, enough to paralyze the train system and make it quite difficult to get anywhere.

So I was truly excited when it started snowing this February and I happened to have my camera with me. I recently purchased the Sony A7C - its compact size makes it much easier to carry even on days I am not sure I will be taking photos. Here is Tokyo in one of its not-so-commonly-seen forms, which I think suits it very much.

I started my snowy walk in Shinjuku. Here I passed though the famous (or infamous?) Omoide Yokocho - a narrow street lined with bars and izakayas, which gets extremely lively during the evenings and weekends.
I then walked through Kabukicho, known as the entertainment disctrict and finally got on the train home in Shin-Okubo, which is the Tokyo Korean Town.
